The sound of cows woke me from my slumber. I didn’t fancy getting caught camping on private land, so I quickly packed up and disappeared into the woods. I found Doug and Kevin, the friendly Canadians, sitting on a log. Doug offered me a cup of coffee. Usually I’d say no as I don’t drink coffee, but after our little escapade of hiking 19 hours yesterday, I gladly accepted.
A little while later we got a ride in a car that was dropping people off at the trailhead. One of those was Guardian, of course.
‘It’s gonna be hard for you guys once you get back. You’ll have been through an incredible adventure and no one back home will get it’, our driver said.
Don’t I know it.
We got into town in time for breakfast at the Kopper Kettle with Cookie, Drive-Thru, Lucky Charm, Lavalamp, Mash and Max, a friend of Lucky Charm who came to visit her. Laundry and shower at the laundromat followed and we hung out there for a while.
As town days usually go, I saw too many of my friends and had way too little time to talk to all of them. Those that were there were Lucas (who slowed down again from his blistering pace) Tommyhawk (ahead of his friends as he is wont to be), Gnome, Remedy (in a fresh new Townshirt), Merman and ID.
