Day 134: Things that are good

Because of campsite placement, we had to hike 27 miles today. Usually no big deal except the terrain in Washington is more rocky and has more elevation than Oregon and Northern California. I talked about books with Half and Half. She recommended me ‘Strange the dreamer’. I loved the title and the fact that she couldn’t pitch it to me at all makes it even more intriguing.

At the top of the biggest climb we had an all too brief swim in the lake there before continuing on the massive descent down to camp. I arrived to camp with sore feet and painful knees (a part of my body that usually remains spared from pain).

I thought it might be a good idea to list the small good things that I experience regularly on trail here, to make sure I don’t forget them.
– looking upwards at trees while lying down
– eating wild berries
– getting into my sleeping bag at the end of the day
– seeing someone I haven’t seen in a while
– the golden hour in the evening
– having dinner with the group
– Half and Half’s Canadian accent coming through at times
– Lucky Charm’s happy dance
– Fitz’ interesting vocabulary choices
– Lavalamp’s hype voice
– Marble’s and mine sunglass synchronization
– IPA’s ability to always be clean and get hitches
– Mash’ stupid food challenges such as eating a bucket of icecream or drinking beer from a shoe
– Merlin’s crazy animal stories

Evening view in Washington
The views are a good thing too of course
