A long day of climbing and descending, views partially obscured by a smoky haze, originating probably from the Chelan fires. I spent the day with Half and Half and Peter, the others being so far behind I didn’t see them all day.
Before lunch, we jumped into Mica Lake, an alpine lake that was freezing cold, but oh so refreshing.
After the final climb, the smoke cleared up a bit and we were rewarded with some of the best views on trail. It made me realize again why I love this so much. A descent down into the valley and we were at camp for the day. 24.5 miles and 6500 feet of elevation, not bad. Good to know we still got it in us.
