Day 45: Prelude to Whitney

The altitude is kicking in hard. Small climbs that I would have been able to run up now require great effort and make me run out of breath. Positive thought is that we will be flying in Northern California with this kind of training. I guess I have the hiker’s legs but not the lungs yet. Luckily it was a shorter day and we made it to the end at 3pm. Since tomorrow we will climb Mt Whitney, we chose the campsite closest to the mountain. In order to make it to the top in time for sunrise, we will wake up at 12h30am. I hope I don’t get altitude sickness.

Also, I saw the pool people again! Seems like they’re in our bubble for now. I talked to them and they call themselves the Noods, as in poolnoodles. One of them, Willy Nelson, was fishing for trout in the river.
