Another amazing day! Mash and I did a sidetrail to climb a mountain called The Nipple (how could we pass that up?) and just before that, we saw a bobcat! I’d never seen such a big cat in the wild and watching it pad across the grassy slope a ways from us was almost surreal. Definitely the coolest wildlife I’ve seen so far. Later in the day, Lucky Charm, Half and Half and me took a swim in a lake. I should really do that more often.
Bard texted Lucky Charm, saying he would try to catch up to us so we could hike together. So from now on, to motivate the others to do more miles, I tell them Bard will catch them if they go too slow.
At the break after that, we saw Veto again. He’s most likely going to join us in the hostel in South Lake Tahoe, which would be great. We also found a trail register and from it, I could deduce the current state of our bubble:
– Sensei’s group is one day ahead
– Gnome, Remedy and Tommyhawk are one day ahead
– Wicked Dinger and Guardian are half a day ahead
– Gopher is somehow 2 days ahead
– Sheets is 2 days ahead
– Still no idea where the Noods are
We camped next to Shower Lake. From the rocks there, I got a great view of Lake Tahoe. So far, Northern California has been stunning. The people hating on it are whining ingrates.
