We left Bishop and went back up Kearsarge Pass to continue to our second pass of the day: Glen Pass. The altitude gets to me less and less, but carrying six plus days of food up two passes was still straining. Half and Half wasn’t feeling good and we left her at Kearsarge Pass. She said she might camp there and continue tomorrow. She hadn’t been feeling good for days and even got an antibiotics prescription.
There was some snow traversing today, but it’s becoming less and less scary. The bubble seemed to have shifted slightly. Sensei’s group and Mermaid’s group (now with Lily in tow!) are still with us. I saw Lil Slurp around as well, so I assume Wicked Dinger and Guardian aren’t far. No sign from Willy Nelson and the Noods though.
Our campsite was an island in the middle of Rae Lakes, a group of mountain lakes. The scenery reminded me of Norway. Just as we were about to have dinner, Half and Half storms into the campsite. We cheered her welcome. She decided to push on anyway. I’m glad, it would have been sad to leave her behind, especially if she was getting sick.
The mosquitoes are back in full force, but now we have bug spray and headnets, so it’s bearable.
