Goodbye Ashland! I was all too glad to leave this weird zero town behind. Away from the mess, confusion and sadness, back to trail! And at least today, our choice seemed the right one: the skies were a lot clearer than before and I couldn’t smell any trace of smoke. After the previous days I appreciated being on trail all the more. The peace and calm of hiking in this green, quiet space. Nothing will ever beat it.
Our bubble has been shaken to its foundations, with people haphazardly heading off in every direction. So it was all the nicer when Camel snuck up behind me. It must have been since South Lake Tahoe that I last saw him.
My mom is now also on trail. Her first day seemed rough, but got a bit easier when I took her food and water in my pack. Hope she can keep up in the coming days.
Also, Marble can squeeze his nose shut without touching it somehow. He must be the next step in human evolution.
