lake view in Oregon

Day 110: Three Sisters Wilderness

Before coming on trail, I knew two things about Oregon: it had Crater Lake and there was a place called Three Sisters Wilderness. Why Three Sisters? I have no idea. In my mind, I had an image of expansive meadows filled with wildflowers, with the titular Three Sisters mountains looming in the background.

Maybe that part is still ahead, because the scenery today was very different: ancient, moss-covered trees and lakes everywhere. Beautiful and different from before, but also a perfect breeding ground for mosquitoes. These were the kind that were fast, bit deeply and cared little for bugspray. The only solution seemed to walk very fast, which I did.

It was one of the rare days where we didn’t see anyone else on trail. The bubble must be ahead of us or scattered at this point.
