Burn area in Washington

Day 130: Return of the Burn

‘It’s one of those days you just have to push through’, Lucky Charm sagely said. And right she was! After the blissful cool or the past couple days, the temperature rose again today. This combined with another long stretch of burn (I thought they would be over for sure once we were in Washington) and a goal of 26 miles made for a stark reminder that it’s not all fun and games out on the pct.

I hiked mostly alone and listened to Backpacker Radio, a podcast about thru hiking, for the first time. Hearing other people talk about backpacking made me once again realize that what we’re doing is pretty darn cool and motivated me to keep going.

I enjoyed dinner with everyone. Half and Half has started wearing her mid layer and beanie in the evening, giving her the look of someone in an outdoor ad (and someone way too fancy to be a thru hiker).
