Day 95: Blowdowns

It was supposed to be a short day, only 21 miles. It did not feel like a short day at all. FarOut had warned us about a ‘Blowdown Buffet’ and for once, it wasn’t exaggerated. It felt like every 15 minutes we had to clamber over a big tree trunk which slowed us down a lot. This coupled with another day of brooding humid heat made for a challenging hike. It’s too bad it was this hot, the views are gorgeous and I felt I couldn’t appreciate them enough because of the temperature.

The others, being Spice, Mouse, Stinger, Lavalamp and Fitz made it into town that night. The rest of us camped at a beautiful lake with big salamanders in it. We made the right choice.

I also met Tits, Ballsacks companion. He mentioned he had 3 trailnames: Tits, Gloryhole and a third one that only comes out when he’s drunk. I remember those innocent times when people used to have trail names like Feathers or Pretzel or Pebbles.
